TEACHER WORKSHOPS
EAST TEXAS

“Lessons Still to Learn: The Holocaust”

These seminars are organized and taught by the Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance senior staff, who believe that the teaching of this past must accomplish more than just knowing about what happened to those people, over there, way back then.

The study of the Holocaust can engage students with extremes of human behavior, help them think about the uses and abuses of power, and provide a context for exploring the dangers of remaining silent and of being apathetic or indifferent to the fate of others. It helps students develop an awareness and sensitivity to diversity and encourages tolerance in our increasingly pluralistic society. Curricular materials will be presented and discussed.

Each seminar will take place at an area synagogue, and a continental breakfast and kosher lunch will be provided.

All costs of the seminars are generously underwritten by the Sam Roosth Family Foundation, Tyler, Texas.
